Daniil Sergeyevich Medvedev is a Russian professional tennis player. Currently ranked world number 3 by the Professional Tennis Association, his career rank in singles is world number 2, obtained on March 15, 2021. He has won ten ATP Tour singles titles. Including ATP Finals 2020, where he beat the top 3 players Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem. With the victory, Medvedev became the first and only player to beat the world top three on the way to the title. Medvedev is also a finalist at the 2019 US Open and 2021 Australian Open, where he lost to Nadal and Djokovic. Medvedev made his ATP debut in the 2015 Kremlin Cup doubles event. In 2016, Medvedev won his first singles match at the Ricoh Open 2016 in the Netherlands. The following year, he participated for the first time in a Grand Slam at Wimbledon, where he beat world number 3 Stan Wawrinka, but lost the next round.
In September 2019, he reached a career high singles ATP ranking of fourth in the world. He finished runner-up in the 2019 US Open, which was his first appearance in a Grand Slam final.
